Repurposing old curtains to make mini-sacks for your indoor plants!

Hey everyone! I caught the bug to update my hanging planters. Repurposing old curtains and macramé strings was the focus to make these mini potato sack-like bags from old curtains .

Here's the VERY SIMPLE "how to":

Take your measurements

  1. Measure the dimensions of your hanging bucket/planter and make allowances for the sewing and top folds.

Prepare for sewing

  1. Make the fold for the opening of the sack and pin them.

  2. Fold the sack in half with the opening fold on the INSIDE, so when you flip, you see them on the outside.

  3. Sew the sides of the sack.

Put in the grommets!

  1. Turn the sack right-side out

  2. Take measurements for the placement of the grommets holes.

  3. Put in your grommets. If you don't know how to, there's a video for that.

Put in the strings

  1. Take measurements for your desired drop height, giving it a small extra length to allow for the knots to stop the whole thing slipping off!

  2. Lace-in your strings from the inside and tie some knots.

Hang away!

Find where your pot/bucket/planter sits well inside your sack and enjoy repurposing your old curtains!
